Procrastination

I bet, if I start counting the number of entries I have keyboarded down with this title….. err, it won’t be more than 7.

Trying to get myself blog these days is turning out to be a hide n seek game. I spend close to 13hrs out of 14 (of my waking time) on the laptop, most of it (around 99.7%) on the internet. Be it job search, or hulu-ing or anything else, I am on internet most of the time. And all the while, either I don’t remember to blog, or I am just plain lazy to put up a new entry. Yes, I did entertain couple of issues but most of them melted away in the bright sunshine of hulu.

That’s the hiding part. What about the seeking? Well, it does occur to me, the ideas form again from whatever is left off the melting. But, that’s in the other 10hrs of my day which I seem to be consistently spending on the …. rather strangely comfortable … (I forgot the word and let me look it up on google now).. yes, comforter, of course with my eyes closed (yes, it means sleeping, thank you.)

Please don’t go green or any other shades of jealously. I am very tired at the end of 14hrs of continuous internet-ing that I do reserve my share of sleep!! Come on!!

All that aside (this used to be ‘anyway’), what all have I done till date?  (Oh don’t worry, I promise I won’t be too hard on myself)

  1. Visit to the famed NYC (which I learnt yesterday is the biggest city in USA)
  2. Go on a downtown tour and then followed by a spine-chilling (literally) night tour (amidst all those glorious lights and well-lit skyscrapers) of Manhattan and Brooklyn.
  3. Those familiar with Manhattan (both tourists and citizens) know that a visit to Times Square is a must. I finally (after 2 years of stay in USA) got to pay homage to this altar of modern advertisement (no, I have no clue what I am talking about)
  4. Brooklyn bridge at night is magnificent.
  5. Public transportation system in NJ, NY is awesome.
  6. WTC Memorial site is now closed to visitors as construction work has begun. (Seriously, being around in that area gives you chills!!)
  7. I, however, couldn’t visit the Green Lady with the Ice cream cone.
  8. I returned to NYC for an ill-fated desi-club night. It turned out to be a bhangra club which greatly distressed me as I can’t, in general, stand bhangra music. When asked to dance repeatedly at the insistence of my friends, I did manage to jump up and down for sometime, lifted my hands and then stopped.
  9. Few of the girls were really HOT though. And they all came pre-equipped with boyfriends.
  10. I noticed that no matter how much fun is made at Sardars’ expense, some of them could be as damn polished as anyone else. This, I later realized, was ‘cos of the fact that they were ABCDs. Notice that ‘some’'?? That is ‘cos outside the pub, I noticed the famed display of ‘whateverness’ of couple of other sardars (is this a right word to use?) who started yelling and running towards a very modified (or limited edition of some muscle car). They could be drunk too. I couldn’t notice the difference.
  11. Started working in this CD/DVD rental/sales store part-time. I have, successfully, recommended many hindi movies to customers, ones which I haven’t even seen.
  12. And as it turns out, Ugly Aur Pagli, Jodha Akbar, Mere Baap Pehle Aap were the most wanted ones (may be it’s got something to do with the fact that they were “new arrivals”?)
  13. I subscribed to Blockbuster (hoping to take advantage of an offer) and in another day or two, am going to cancel it too (which I don’t want but have to).
  14. I am going to have postpone buying a 2GB RAM for my exhausted laptop running (finally) Vista Ultimate, not ‘cos I don’t have money, but to appear that I am trying to any money anywhere I can (at the same time spending much more in ‘other’ expenses).

Also,

Microsoft Tinker ROCKS. SNL does too. Oh, a new show called Fringe started, which, is a cross of X-Files and CSI. Of course, my suggestion for watching this show, leave all your logic behind.

House M.D. resumes its Season 5 and the season premiere was just as good as the season 4 finale. I don’t watch House for the medical drama anymore. I bet, if you are a true fan, you know that the medical plot of the show is cliched and doctors disagree with the science.

But, seriously, the show is about House, and about his relations to people around him. The one thing that the show has continuously increased is the complexity in House’s character and one can’t but be intrigued by it. I watch the show now just to see what House says, does rather than how he treats his patient (that’s kinda important too but then… as I said, it follows the same line every episode).

To actually reach till this line, provided you read all the ones above, without skipping, you do have a remarkable patience which I appreciate but couldn’t wonder if spent doing something more productive.

Ha Ha Ha Ha!
