I went in with slight apprehension. The first few opening scenes made me think this is one of "yo!" generation movies. But frankly, this movie was just more than that.
I wouldn't go into the personal details (this blog is not for such stuff) but, after quite sometime, I really said "wow" for a bollywood movie. Jaane Tu.. came close, but it fell for its cliched storyline.
The minute a movie is made on a band, you know it has in its veins a "breakup" and a "reunion". But just how it happens is the crux of it. As I started writing this section, I remembered how it happened, the breakup. Very genuine acting by the cast lent an authentic feel to it. Arjun Rampal seemed as if he wanted to run away from the movie, but made to stay on "leash", but then the role probably demanded such a performance. Farhandid a good job but it was KD (Purab??) that stole the show. (Gujju brand of jokes are taking over what hitherto was a sardar arena, no offense).
I was thoroughly impressed by the movie. The songs were good, so were the lyrics (no wonder why). Not only the popular ones that are on TV but the two songs by female vocalist were equally good (or were they just one?). The playing of instruments seemed genuine to me (so the same for a layman too).
Once again, in the very beginning the placement of ads was obvious. I think it was Fast track watches and then followed by PIM (Public Interest Messages) by Times and... another that I can't remember. I think there was one another too.
The minute Rob said he was getting headaches, I realized he was going to die. My joy knew no wonders when it got confirmed (sorry, but couldn't help it). The apple did fall from the same bolly tree, though bit farther from the rest.
One of my favorite scenes was with KD at the Channel [V] pre-event party, when he gets complimented by Devika. And few others which I obviously can't remember.
My overall satisfaction with the movie is 9.35354/10 (Calculated with Buck-worth & Screw-loose Method).
WATCH IT!!
